{"id":38,"date":"2019-07-25T09:38:00","date_gmt":"2019-07-25T09:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cironpharma.com\/blog\/?p=38"},"modified":"2019-09-25T06:59:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T06:59:41","slug":"career-watch-a-look-at-how-indian-pharmaceutical-organizations-are-lapping-up-young-aspirants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cironpharma.com\/blog\/career-watch-a-look-at-how-indian-pharmaceutical-organizations-are-lapping-up-young-aspirants\/","title":{"rendered":"CAREER WATCH: A look at how Indian pharmaceutical organizations are lapping up young aspirants!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Meghana\nMangaj, 26, from Belgaum in North Karnataka, works as a Quality Assurance\nOfficer at a pharmaceutical company&#8217;s manufacturing site in the south of Goa.\nHer job is to ensure that every production batch released from manufacturing\nline adheres to certain quality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mangaj\nwas straight out of her 12th grade when she was picked up by&nbsp;the company\nthrough a programme called \u2018Learn and Earn\u2019 in 2011. For the next three years,\nshe worked on the shop floor on weekdays, and attended classes on the weekend.\nShe was trained on pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical engineering, costing and\ninventory, regulatory affairs, computers and English. She was taught behavioral\nskills like communication, ethics, leadership, planning and time management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During\nthose three years, Mangaj received a monthly stipend from the pharma company,\nwhich also provided subsidised accommodation, transport and canteen facilities.\nAfter completion of the programme, Mangaj received a BSc degree in Industrial\nDrug Sciences from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, along with a\njob offer from the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even\nbetter, people like Mangaj, who completed the training; also had the option to\npursue higher studies or go on to work with some other company. Mangaj was\nnervous while signing up for the programme. She had no clue about the pharma\nindustry. She now supports her family through her earnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initiatives\nsuch as these have started to play an important role in pharma industry \u2013 an\nindustry that has been one of India\u2019s fastest-growing but has lately started to\nface some challenges. Chief among them is the unemployability problem. The\ncountry churns out over 2,25,000 pharmacy and allied science graduates compared\nto just about 17,000 in US. But the advantage ends there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nindustry complains that most of these fresh graduates coming out of pharmacy\ncolleges are out of sync with modern manufacturing practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They\nhave little practical training, many of them have no idea about the current\ngood manufacturing practices (GMP) followed on the shop floor.
